I began my entertainment career as a singer-songwriter. In the 1990’s I fronted the New York City-based rock band, Big Honey. As an actor, I was featured in the award-winning indies “Virgil Bliss” and “Milk and Honey,” and in the family film, “Frank.” In Los Angeles, I was an in-house writer/performer with the Josh Brolin/Vincent Riverside theater company Street School Artist Collective.
With regard to my writing, my dramedy, “Fool School,” received a Golden Remi for“Best Original Teleplay” at WorldFest-Houston, the Houston Film Festival, in 2006.
An original screenplay, “Rhythm of Life,” was a Top Ten Finalist in the 2007 Final Draft Breakthrough Screenplay Competition and finished third in 2010’s UCLA Extension Contest. In 2007, another screenplay — “Let x = 2” — in addition to being a quaterfinalist in the Nicholl Fellowship — received the second prize in the UCLA Extension Screenplay competition. “Rhythm of Life” was optioned in 2012.
I also wrote an animated biker comedy teleplay called “The Adventures of Mickey and Monk,” along with a “Curb Your Enthusiasm” spec that won an award in a “Triple A” Contest.
In 2008, I co-wrote an SCTV-influenced game show parody, “The Music Brain,” starring Matt Pinfield, which was optioned by Granada Entertainment.
Two of my one-act plays, “Ducks Drowning” and “Tin Trophies,” will be published by Dr. Cicero Books in winter of 2014. Short stories include: “Love Beast,” “Dance With a Hippopotamus,” and “Communists Thwart the Violation of Captain Quego.” The novel East of Highland is slated for release on Dr. Cicero in the summer of 2014.
I graduated from Columbia University with a BA in English Lit and will be receiving my MA from Brooklyn College this spring. I also teach martial arts and hold a black belt rank in Gracie Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
